June 2, 2011: I’m excited to be performing at the Montreal Folk Festival on June 18th.  It’s going to be a great festival – there is an amazing line-up this year.  The festival takes place at the St. Ambroise Brewery on the Lachine Canal.  My solo set is from 2-2:30pm and then I’m in a songwriters circle from 3-4pm with Rose Cousins, Emm Gryner and Scott Normandy (an honour, to be sure).  Come down for the day, bring your family, bring a blanket to sit on the grass.  Hope to see you there!  -Allison xoxo

January 21, 2011:  A belated Happy New Year!  The US tour with Sheena was a grand adventure and we received warm welcomes everywhere.  Our shows in Arkansas and Nashville were especially fun.  We played in Mike Shirkey’s house concert venue in Fayetteville, Arkansas – amazing people, amazing acoustics.  It was one of those shows where the audience and the artist were in tune the whole time.  We stayed with my dear friends Cindy and Tom on their rural Arkansas property and were treated like stars/kings/family.  They were this wonderful home away from home and showed us a good Arkansayer (?) time.  I’ve been taking a little sabbatical from touring and it has done me good.  I’m bundled up in Montreal with my bright yellow down-filled slippers and catching up on a lot of things.  I hope this finds you bundled up wherever you are.  Thanks for stopping by! -Allison xoxo

September 20, 2010: Sheena and I are in Boston!  We’ve been staying with my lovely sister Megan.  She brought out all her classmates to our show in Boston last night and they’re a fun bunch, let me tell you.  What an exciting city to be in – I feel like the world’s problems are being solved by everyone I pass on the street.  I tagged along to her Economics class today at MIT.  It brought me back to that Quantum Chemistry course I took in my undergrad and barely understood.  We’re going to be performing in NYC on Wednesday!  Rock’n road.  Hope all’s well North of the border. -Allison xoxo

September 7, 2010:  The Ontario Parks Tour came and went with a flurry of great crowds and campsites.  Thank you!  After I got used to the lack of blackberry reception in most parks (yes – I admit there are addiction issues going on) I had a wonderful time swimming, jogging on hiking trails and writing songs for my new album.  It was such a treat to explore even more parks this summer - it was a beautiful way to spend two weeks.

And now I’m gearing up for my first US tour ever!  On September 16th I’m heading south of the border with singer/songwriter Sheena Grobb of Winnipeg.  Touring with Sheena is always such a treat and I look forward to yet another adventure.  We’re heading all the way down to Arkansas and back, stopping in Nashville for a week and everywhere in between.  We don’t know many people in the US, so please check out our tour dates and tell your friends in the area.  Hope this finds you enjoying a beautiful September.  Thanks for stopping by!  -Allison xoxo

June 25, 2010: Seven weeks on the road, 29 concerts – whew!  I am ready for some serious naps.  But the Haiku Canada! Tour went so well.   Thanks to CBC Radio, Bond Writing Services, Chris Colepaugh, my many hosts and to everyone who came out to the shows across Canada.  I felt very supported and had a great time.  I loved getting to read the poems every night after the shows and I feel like I learned wonderful things about each town.  I’ve posted the poems in the PHOTOS section of my website.  Go have a look!  Some are funny, some sweet, serious – a great mix.  A couple of concerts this weekend in Ontario and then I’ve got a whole month in Montreal.  Booking some tours, getting ready for the Parks Concert tour this summer, camping and napping.  I can’t wait :)   Hope to see you soon! -Allison xoxo

June 5, 2010: Drinking almond milk lattes on a mountain top in Nelson, BC. The sun has emerged after 8 straight days of rain. Life is good. Thanks to the wonderful crowd in Nelson last night! We’re on the home stretch – only 4 concerts left on this 7-week tour. Hard to believe it’s almost over. -Allison xoxo

May 28, 2010: Played in Ucluelet, BC last night – what a great crowd! Thanks so much to Wild Heather Books for having me in. A beautiful concert venue. -Allison xoxo

May 18, 2010: What a week of shows! My first night off after seven shows in a row. What lovely people I’ve met along the way – I’ve been spoiled with delicious meals, soft beds and great audiences. Thank you! The Haikus keep on coming. Thanks for checking in. -Allison xoxo

May 7, 2010: Heading West!  I leave bright and early tomorrow morning for the Western portion of my cross-Canada tour.  I’ve had so much fun collecting Haikus from Eastern Canada – thank you for all your contributions!  Can’t wait to see what’s to come.  A huge thank you to Chris Colepaugh for joining me on guitar and vocals on the Maritime portion of the tour – what an incredibly talented musician and nice person.  I feel very lucky to have such great audiences and people supporting me.  Thanks.

Hope to see you soon! -Allison xoxo

April 22: Here we are! The 32-date X-Canada tour kicked off last night in Fredericton. Great Haikus, great enthusiasm. Thanks for being the first, Fredericton! More to come as this tour goes throughout Canada. Off to Hampton, NB tonight! -Allison xoxo

April 20: Haiku Canada!  I leave tomorrow on a 32-date nationwide solo tour and I am tickled pink (red and white).  Over the past few years I have driven across Canada so much and have continually marvelled at how vast it is.  I love the idea of carrying messages from one end to the other, so I’ve made this tour the ‘Haiku Canada!’ tour.  At each concert I’ll be getting audience members to write Haiku poems about their beloved city or town (quick refresher: 5 syllables/7 syllables/5 syllables).  These Haiku poems will then get posted on my website as I head from East to West through our fair country.  It’s my humble attempt to create a snapshot of the Canadian identity.  I’m excited to see what you come up with!  So come on out to a show, leave a Haiku poem and check back with this page regularly to see your note and those of other Canadians.  See you in your town!  Thanks for your support, as always.  -Allison xoxo

February 12, 2009: I’ve really been enjoying my 9-5 routine at the Montreal cafe I frequent every day.  I’ve been a busy bee putting together my spring tour schedule across Canada.  Between now and mid-June I’ve got a whole bunch of shows in Ontario and then Coast to Coast.  Most of the tour dates are up on my website, but more are to come, so stay tuned!    And..I’m gearing up for a trip to Memphis next week for International Folk Alliance Conference.  Memphis, baby.  Happy Valentine’s weekend to you and yours!  Thanks for stopping by.  -Allison xoxo

December 23, 2009: What a year!  I can’t express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me through the past 12 months – it has been incredibly busy and fun.  Highlights of the year included teaming up with Sheena Grobb of Winnipeg for tours – what a beautiful and talented person.  I can’t wait to tour together this year, Sheena!  Other highlights included the Northern Roots Tour (Moosonee!  Hearst!) with the band (thank you Canada Council for the Arts), the multiple X-Canada tours, going to Memphis for the Folk Alliance Conference, getting Bond Writing Services on board (your help has made all the difference in my career this year) and the summer Parks tour with my gifted, lovely sister Megan Lickley.

A big thank you to my amazing family for their love and support and to my dear friends and roommates for making me feel at home on the road and in Montreal.  Thank you for coming out to the shows, buying the music, emailing me words of support, spreading the word, sporting your Allison Lickley t-shirts and being an all-around lovely bunch of people.  It makes me want to keep on doing what I’m doing.  Lots of exciting plans for 2010 – I will keep you posted as things unfold.  I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

Thanks again for a great 2009.  -Allison xoxo
